Welcome to the D11 Literacy Wiki.

We will use this forum to create dialogue and professional development around different literacy issues: writing, online book studies,  pacing guides, interventions, and 21st Century learning. Use the calendar at the bottom of the page to notify others of future trainings in your building.

What strategies are you using to DIBEL/progress monitor your benchmark students -- and others on a more frequent basis?

From your elementary colleagues: 1) will copy the first six prompts of the specific PM book needed to PM the 'green' students monthly. The other two measures will come from the winter and spring BM, for a total eight 'PM' entries for the year.
2) wondering if we should create a 1 X per month DIBELS booklet from the progress monitoring materials

we tested frequently, so we just used a different color in the PM books for each testing date, and therefore only needed one PM book per student; when we made it through each passage in the PM book and started over at the beginning, we just used, blue, black, red, etc. to mark the errors for that date. It was also a great way for teachers to see growth over time in each passage

In the past my school has not repeatedly tested students whom we know to be proficient (beyond the three benchmarks per year). Would you please clarify if this is a new district mandate (or suggestion)? If we are planning to use our instructional time to test our benchmarked children, and we are planning to finance the printing of testing materials for those kids as well - where is the operational efficiency and financial responsibility there? For those students who warrant progress monitoring, many of our teachers work collaboratively or use volunteers to help with coverage so that teachers may complete DIBELS assessments in a corner of a classroom or out in the hallway. We are lucky to have a computer lab so that teachers can sign up for the computer lab/LTE while individuals are taking assessments.
